D.G. Valdron: I'm quite reclusive. But apparently, as a writer, you have to put yourself out there. So here goes.

I’m a wayward Maritimer. My dad was a mechanic, my grandfather was a carpenter, it left me a practical approach to life. Growing up, we did everything and worked on everything from retreading tires, to small manufacturing, to construction, to running cement, doing carpentry, running a drive-in theatre and working on cars. I’ve had the usual assortment of quirky writers jobs, mechanic, carpenter, projectionist, cook, waiter, woodcutter ditch-digger, journalist and school teacher.

As a writer, my earliest memory is dragging my brother, in his high chair, over to a blackboard so I could draw Batman adventures for him. Even back then, I knew I wanted to tell stories. No matter where I’ve gone, what I’ve done, that storyteller has always been in me, struggling to get out. I published my first story when I was thirteen.

I’m a huge fan of the pulps from the 30s and 40s, and classic old B-Movies from the 50s and 60s. The world really was a different place then. I loved everything from Edgar Rice Burroughs and H.P. Lovecraft to Ray Harryhausen and George Pal. I guess that shows up in my writing. At this point, have twenty-seven books - nonfiction books about Cult-TV shows like Doctor Who, Lexx and Starlost, dark fantasy novels like The Mermaid’s Tale, alternate histories like Axis of Andes and Bear Cavalry, funny fantasy such as Drunk Slutty Elf and Zombies, horror, collections and many more.

My latest project is B-Movie Monsters in Love, a tribute to those monsters and their movies. Now availabable for order at Amazon. It’s part of the Exotic Speculations series, which includes Dawn of Cthulhu, Fall of Atlantis, and Murder Chickens on Mars.
