The Muckers have copies of their special souvenir illustrated edition of The Mucker/The Return of the Mucker available for sale at $25, plus $5 to cover shipping and handling. This hard cover book is 368 pages in length and includes 41 illustrations drawn by 17 genre artists as well as a full-color dust jacket.

The edition was limited to 250 copies. The Muckers have about 100 copies available for sale. As you may or may not know, 39 of those 41 illustrations were drawn specifically to illustrate this Dum-Dum souvenir. Additionally, Thomas Yeates gave us permission to use a Mucker illustration he drew in 2006 and Pete Ogden gave us permission to feature a Jim Cawthorn Mucker illustration which previously appeared in a 1992 ERBANIA.

Other artists featured in this special edition include Deborah Abbott, a talented young mother from Austin, Texas who illustrated several scenes, including some "flying money." You'll just have to buy the book to see it. Jack Bender of Alleyoop comic-strip fame and guest of honor at the 2008 Waterloo Dum-Dum, contributed an illustration.

List-members David Burton, Phil Normand, and Greg Phillips also contributed a number of great scenes which appear throughout the book. Our artist guest of honor, Tom Floyd, did a marvelous color illustration of Billy, Barbara, and the Brazos pony for the dust jacket plus a second line-art version of the same scene which is featured as the frontispiece.

Dave Hoover contributed several illustrations, including a picture of Bridge astride a very tired Mexican pony. Canadians Lovern Kindzierski and Ronn Sutton provided us with scenes of Billy's adventures on the Halfmoon.

Chicago artist Doug Klauba contributed a marvelous facial study of a grieving Billy who knows his friend Theriere is dying. Don Marquez contributed a pair of illustrations including a samurai warrior complete with lacquered armor, and another image showing the wreck of the Halfmoon.

Chicago is also represented by Chris Wright who expertly captured the essence of Hilmore's West Side gym. Kathleen Burke, another Chicagoan, gave us a sketch of Barbara overhearing Divine's treachery aboard the Halfmoon. Kathleen also assisted with the dust jacket design. Ellen Vartanoff, an East Coast Mucker member and artist, contributed several western scenes for The Return of the Mucker.

Lastly, but in no way least, Mark Wheatley gave us two illustrations -- one for The Mucker as well as the very last illustration in the book showing Billy finally getting his girl.

Other features of this special edition include a letter from Jim Sullos, president of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. blessing the Muckers' efforts and an introduction written by Mucker Jeff Long.

Once all the books are sold, that's it. This edition will never be reprinted. Don't miss this opportunity to get the ultimate collectible Mucker/Return of the Mucker. All we asked for from each artist was first reproduction rights only, so each artist retains ownership  and all rights in their originals and we won't be reprinting the book.

So, if you want to own a copy of this incredible edition, make your $30 check or money order out to Joan Bledig and mail it to:

 Joan Bledig ~ 5724 N. Leonard Ave. ~ Chicago, IL 60646

All proceeds go toward defraying Dum-Dum 2010 expenses.

If you need any additional information, please contact me privately at jthev@aol.com. And, if once you receive your book, you think you'd like to own a piece of the original art, please email me for contact information for contributing artists not on this list.

A Unique Tarzan Collectible from Al Bohl
Thus far all the funding for the Tarzan: Lord of the Louisiana Jungle project has come from my own pocket. Also, my daughter Allison has donated her time and talent to help make this project possible. I am waiting to hear from several grants I have applied for and further down the road I will be looking for corporate sponsorship.

I am not stopping the production while waiting to hear from the grants. There are several things which I am doing that need an additional infusion of funds at this time. Just three examples are the purchase of historic archival photos and footage along with some fees to enter into film festivals and the cost of producing all original music for the documentary and a new improved version of the original motion picture “Tarzan of the Apes.”

I have produced a 24” x 36” full color "Tarzan: Lord of the Louisiana Jungle" poster suitable for framing. It is printed on fine gloss poster paper. I am only printing 250 posters. Each will be numbered and signed by me. Numbers 11-250 are available for $25 each. This includes FREE shipping and handling. Also, your name will be listed in the end credits of the DVD presentation as a sponsor who made this documentary possible. Follow the progress of the project in ERBzine.

David Burton's highly anticipated vision of Edgar Rice Burroughs' beloved tale...

This title is now available for purchase!
Click here to order this title from Lulu!

Edgar Rice Burroughs is most famous for his stories about the young boy lost in the jungle and raised by a tribe of apes. Though the world knew little about Africa at the time when these stories were written, Burroughs in fact got many of his theoretical ideas absolutely correct about apes and their ways of living. Now, after many years of reprints in standard paperback format with average cover artwork and little to no illustration, David Burton and Leanta Books bring to you this re-imagining of one of the most beloved stories of all time!

This edition of Tarzan of the Apes will feature a complete edition of the ape-language dictionary for the first time ever! Burton has worked with a number of different sources to ensure that this ape-language dictionary is the most complete ever put together in print.

Also featured in the book is an Introduction by Robert B. Zeuschner and the research article, "Feral Children in Fact and Fiction" by Serena DuBois

NICK CARDY: COMIC STRIPS
Available in comic book stores or through www.artoriginals.ca

NICK CARDY: Comic Strips focuses on Nick's stint in newspaper comics and includes chapters on his work on Tarzan (reprinted in its entirety for the first time), Casey Ruggles and Lady Luck. There are also a number of never-before-published strips including Major North, Mr. Figg and his Adam Pierce strip (of which all the original art is available for sale).

The book includes an extensive interview as well as essays and appreciations from Jon B. Cooke, Richard Howell and Todd Dezago. Complete details can be found on www.artoriginals.ca including a brief preview on the book as well as the Adam Pierce collection of newspaper strips for sale. Half of the proceeds of all artwork sold will go directly to Nick, so check out this beautiful 50-year old artwork (including the only Sunday work that Nick has ever done in his long and storied career)
Sean Menard has worked extensively with Nick over the last four years and is extremely grateful for his efforts in getting this project off the ground and to his many fans. Nick and Sean will be at Heroes Con in June where he will be signing copies of the book.

Edgar Rice Burroughs: The Exhaustive Scholar’s and Collector’s Descriptive Bibliography of American Periodical, Hardcover, Paperback, and Reprint Editions by Robert B. Zeuschner

In creating some of the most enduring characters in 20th century literature, Burroughs (1875–1950) left a complex bibliographic record of editions, and a long chain of fascinated collectors. The present reference work details all United States versions of all his works published through 1995. Each listing begins with a description of the first magazine appearance of the story (with full publication data); the first hardcover is then examined in detail, with publisher, date, a complete description of the book’s cover and jacket, print run, price, number of pages, and characteristics that separate it from following editions. Similar information is then provided from all subsequent editions.
