A prodigious reader of fiction, Gary Buckingham always held an abiding interest in history and political geography, realizing early on that these fields had minimal prospects. Attaining four technical degrees, his career was that of electrical engineer.

Working for seven federal agencies amid 16 distinct assignments, Gary decided to follow-up his voluminous reading and extensive travel by writing some Tarzan tales.

His parents, Lynn and Allen, purchased the new Whitman edition of The Return of Tarzan in 1967, starting his life-long attentiveness to all the narratives written by the Master of Adventure, Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Joining an Edgar Rice Burroughs fan organization in 1976, he finally attended his first Burroughs convention in 2010, hosting three in 2020, 2021 and 2023.

First copyediting for author Will Murray in 2015, Gary has now edited 40 novels and two art chronology compilations (Edgar Rice Burroughs and Robert E. Howard). Among these have been 15 manuscripts about Burroughs’ characters by new authors.

Writing his own adventures of Burroughs’ jungle lord starting in 2013, the third published chronicles took place in his home state of Wisconsin. A new, fourth collection of his authorized stories will be published in 2025, the mostly-completed fifth in 2026.

An Edgar Rice Burroughs reader since age 14, Alan Hanson’s work has been featured in numerous Burroughs print and online platforms since 1977.

Alan is a charter member of the 1984-founded Edgar Rice Burroughs Amateur Press Association, with articles appearing in all of the group’s 166 mailings to date. Books published under his Waziri Publications imprint include Heritage of the Flaming God (1984), A Tarzan Chrono-log (1988), and Exploring Tarzan’s Africa (2022).

In 2006, he was recognized by the Burroughs Bibliophiles literary society for “Outstanding Achievement and Dedication to the Memory of Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Born into a military family, Patrick Quilter became an avid bibliophile at an early age, gaining refuge in reading to offset the disruption of frequent relocations to new duty stations.

While in high school, Pat discovered and began collecting Edgar Rice Burroughs paperbacks. He revisited that cache during the 2020 Covid lockdown, finding the books retained the charm and spirit that had captivated him long ago.

A leading designer and manufacturer of professional audio equipment, Pat provides a welcome voice in Burroughsian publications, and is an intriguing presence and presenter at events, often appearing in costumes based on Burroughs’ characters.
