BIO: Height 5' 8" ~ Spouse: Paul Qualley (1986 - 1999 separated) Rhett Hartzog (2001) ~ When she was six her parents divorced and depression drove her mother to alcoholism. McDowell worked at McDonalds and Pizza Hut as a teenager. Her mother, Paula, died in 1981 of chronic alcoholism. She first made waves as a model in a series of saucy Calvin Klein TV commercials, which led to her casting in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984), but the producers decided that her Southern accent was too noticeable, and asked Glenn Close to dub all her lines after the fact. She has been chosen by People Magazine as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world. In 1988, she became a member of the New York City Church of Christ. She left the group shortly afterward when she was being forbidden by the leadership to take part in Steven Soderbergh's Sex, Lies and Videotape (1989). Her eye-opening performance as the dissatisfied wife in that movie revealed an actress worth watching. The film propelled her, overnight, to the ranks of leading ladies. At her best, MacDowell is able to project intelligence along with sex appeal. In 2000, Andie MacDowell filed suit against Wal-Mart for displaying her picture in several stores without permission.

Lydie was 21 when she came to Los Angeles on vacation and decided to pursue the acting career she had dreamed of since childhood. In Worldvision Enterprises' "Tarzan" a weekly, half-hour, action series for syndication, Denier assumed the central role of Jane Porter. She sees her Jane as, "a modern woman who brings the positive aspects of civilization to the Jungle to conduct research on endangered species. But she also has come to find herself. Jane is independant and intelligent. She has no fear and can and will do anything." Lydie first met Wolf Larson, who plays Tarzan, in acting class when they were both aspiring actors. Little did she suspect then that the two would be working together in the exotic jungle in Palenque, Mexico, near the Yucatan
Peninsula. When the producers of "Tarzan" were searching for an actress to play the role of Jane, the well-educated, contemporary and passionate scientist, they needed only to meet with Lydie to find exactly who they were looking for.
