CAJUN JACK SWAMP TOUR
TARZAN LOCATIONS
Wherein an intrepid troupe of Burroughs devotees
brave the dangerous swamps and bayous of Louisiana
to explore the locations used in the 1917 film,
TARZAN OF THE APES

.Stellan WindrowElmo Lincoln
Stellan Windrow and Elmo Lincoln
This is the basin where the first Tarzan of the Apes
with Elmo Lincoln was filmed, in 1917.
This looks like a meadow,
but definitely NOT for walking on!
.
The amazing cypress trees dressed in Spanish moss.
It was amazing to learn that some are 1200 years old
even tho' they look like saplings.
Cypress in the swamp.
That ain't no solid ground...
.
Beautiful Spanish moss
Each link of the moss is so delicate and yet,
survives high winds in hurricanes, etc.
The alligator sounds like a dog barking and
Cajun Jack does that very well.
Must have been the mating call
as there were responses.
.
1200 year old cypress
in the middle of Tarzan's basin.
One is never quite sure if this is
floating vegetation or quicksand...
..
The feeling was very peaceful as
Cajun Jack stopped the engines.
Not a sound except for the occasional bird call.
Cajun Jack calling for 'gators and bull frogs.
.
Sue-On listens intently for the sound of the fauna.
'gator chillin'
.
Definitely not the meadow!
The vegetation probably goes down about 12 inches,
then... who knows what lurks below?
Flora and fauna.
There was a tiny bullfrog on the pads,
but he's well camouflaged...
.
The towering cypress trees dressed in Spanish moss.
It was amazing to learn that some are 1200 years old
even tho' they look like saplings.
Leaving the beautiful basin
heading back to the landing.
