Gidget, The Mule
While I was photographing her, she bit me.
Fortunately, it was my left, non-painting hand,
and I was giving her carrots, so it wasn't her fault
..she mistook my finger for a carrot!

Photos of Tarzana in the Early Days
From the Herman Family Collection
Our Mom kept a flock of about 24 sheep on our hill, to graze under the big Cedars that were there.  I took some photos of the sheep on the side of the hill facing the country club, and some with the trees, and expect to paint more of those scenes soon.

The pastel painting below is one I've been working on and it is from the photo that follows it.

The photos of the sheep I took probably in the 1950s on the side of our hill, I think looking toward the club.

The photo of the bunch of sheep may have been taken on the side close to Tarzana Drive, under the big Cedars that were there from Burroughs time.

Our Mom kept a flock of about 2 doz. Black Face Suffolk sheep on the hill to keep the weeds down.

This is the house that we rebuilt on 'Cedar Hill" under construction.

I'm sure you recognize it as the building where Burroughs kept his cars, tutored his kids, and showed his Tarzan films.
