OVERVIEW PART I: INTRODUCTION
The 2010 Dum-Dum, organized by The Muckers, the Chicago chapter of the Burroughs Bibliophiles, was held over four days, Aug. 19 to 22, 2010, at the Best Western Chicago-Hillside, 4400 Frontage Road, in Hillside, Illinois, a near western suburb of Chicago.

GUESTS OF HONOUR
George McWhorter, curator of the Edgar Rice Burroughs Memorial Collection at the Ekstrom Library of the University of Louisville, accepted the Muckers' offer to be Special Guest of Honour.

Stephen D. Korshak, author of Grand Master of Fantasy: The Paintings of J. Allen St. John and From the Pen of Paul: The Fantastic Images of Frank R. Paul made a Friday presentation on the art of J. Allen St. John.

Thomas Floyd, creator, artist, and writer of the online comic strip Captain Spectre.

SWAG
Attendees received a special Muckers' edition of ERB's The Mucker,  profusely illustrated with over 40 illustrations by 17 artists in the field. The book is in hard cover and has a full-color dust jacket featuring the Dum-Dum's logo created by artist guest of honor Thomas Floyd. Only 250 copies of the book have been printed. A limited number of extra copies are available for purchase.

In addition to The Mucker book, the convention package contained a special convention shirt, pin back, program book, souvenir banquet ticket, restaurant guide, book store locations, maps, attractions information, etc.

AMONG THE VIPs IN ATTENDANCE
The Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. offices in Tarzana, California, were well represented:
Jim Sullos | Willie Jones | Janet Mann | Cathy Wilbanks

Linda, Llana Jane, and Dejah Burroughs flew in from Tarzana to mingle with ERB fans and to keep alive the memory of Danton Burroughs.

Al Bohl (noted filmmaker/animator) and daughter Allison Bohl (filmographer). They have done some major production work on the forthcoming documentary: Tarzan: Lord of the Louisiana Jungle  The weekend's event added even more hours to vast amount of footage they have already compiled from film shoots all around the US.

Thomas Yeates was in attendance and displayed fine examples of his original art and drew sketches for many fans. Many fans took home original pages of his full color painted up-coming Outlaw Prince graphic novel, based on The Outlaw of Torn as well as other art  and books on the themes of legends and myths. Throughout the weekend Thomas's many other talents were displayed when he brought out his guitar for a blues jam and later danced the night away a famous Chicago blues club.
