MOTES & QUOTES No. 9
Part of the ERBzine Eclectica Series

Some of the off-site, non-ERBzine links may be no longer active.

NOTE:
Before Social Media There Was ERBzine Eclectica that we debuted in January 2000.
Our ERB Motes & Quotes Eclectica was a weekly showcase for all.
This was one of many Webpages that were featured in each week's ERBzine Webzine
-- an online fanzine that we have published every week since 1996.
the latest ERB news, releases, readers letters, and a boundless collection of items
of interest to Burroughs and SF/Adventure Fans.
Images were smaller then as the Internet and computer systems were slower
-- also server storage was much more expensive.
Sadly, some of the off-site non-ERBzine links we've shared are no longer active
- that, we have no control over but they are left here as a curiosity or reference.

TARZAN FOR KIDS
well... sort of...

This unusual site starts off with:
TARZAN FOR TODDLERS:
A COLORFUL A to Z PRIMER

A = AGES       B = BISON      C = CAST

and progresses to:

TARZAN: Athletes who portrayed him
aka TARZAN BEFORE DISNEY

...and then evolves to...
All The Jungle Humps

...but then...
things take sort of a bizarre twist with:

...AND...
the ADULTS ONLY site:
TEEN MUSCLE: YOUNG MEN IN SPEEDOS
All-Male, All the Time,
All the Sights you'll EVER Need!
AND
While there you can send in your donation to
AUNTIE HELEN'S in San Diego
A THRIFT STORE AND FREE LAUNDRY SERVICE FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH AIDS

ERB followed some strange takes on evolution but this was one branch of the tree I don't think he ever explored. The little toddlers should love this site though.

"These illustrations are from an "officially" unpublished novel about an ape-man on Mars written by Stuart J. Byrne under the pseudonym of John Bloodstone. It was commissioned in the late forties by Ray Palmer, editor of many pulp magazines. [See ERBzine ] so it has existed in the "fan underground" for forty some odd years. When I came across a manuscript at a convention dealers table I saw it as an opportunity to illustrate both of my favorite Burroughs characters in one fell swoop. I produced a fullpage B&W illustration for each of the thirty one chapters."

"Each piece is airbrushed and with the exceptions of the obviously larger works each are approximately 10.25" x 13.5" on CS-10 airbrush paper rendered with a mixture of Com-Art opaque and transparent grey and black."

"Some of these originals are available for sale those prices are indicated below. If interested you may contact me at the address on my resume' page or by e-mail: pmccall@indy.net

2000.02.24
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Thirsty monkeys in drought-affected eastern Kenya stoned to death a herder watering his livestock, a local newspaper reported Thursday. Ali Adam Hussein and other herdsmen had stopped to water their cattle at a pool in the northeastern Wajir district on Saturday when a group of wild monkeys attacked them with stones, the independent daily East African Standard said. Hussein died from severe head injuries, the newspaper quoted Abdi Gosho, a nurse in the village, as saying. The report did not specify what kind of monkey carried out the purported attack. Baboons have been known to throw objects at rivals.
