Al Martin Napoletano (b. 1920.04.23) is a professional artist from the San Francisco Bay area. After reading Edgar Rice Burroughs' The Bandit of Hell's Bend, decided to do an illustrated strip exactly the way ERB wrote the story. This had never  been done before and Bill Dutcher was proud to feature it in his ERB fanzine, The Jasoomian, back in 1973. 

A number of Jasoomian issues were included in one of the last bundles of rare items that Danton Burroughs sent us from his Tarzana Archives. This zine was one of Danton's favourites and since he had provided much of the content for the publication, he wanted to share some of this material with today's ERB fans on the Internet.

Over the years Napoletano worked on a variety of illustrated strips and illustrations for books and Western  magazines including: TRUE WEST, FRONTIER TIMES, OLD WEST, HORSE TALES, BADMEN, GOLD, RELICS, WESTERN HORSEMEN, and BOBWIRE GAZETTE.

He really liked The Bandit of Hell's Bend and felt that it "compares favorably with other Westerns. It doesn't bog down and is exciting all the way through."

The Napoletano serialization debuted in Jasoomian No. 9, February 1973.
