TARZANA -- NEW TOWN
TO BE ESTABLISHED

Dream of Artistic and Literary Colony by
Noted Writer Being Realized
Edgar Rice Burroughs to Place Part of Beautiful Foothill

Estate on Market -- Many Reservations Made
-- Is one of Valley Beauty Spots
Following the announcement of the subdivision of the Miller property on Ventura boulevard and Reseda avenue and the Long Acres tract on Ventura boulevard opposite the Adohr Dairy, comes the announcement of the immediate subdivision of 100 acres of Tarzana Ranch, with 2,000 feet frontage on Ventura boulevard opposite Reseda avenue, at the junction of which avenue with Ventura boulevard the new town of Tarzana is being established.

Tarzana Ranch, the home of Edgar Rice Burroughs, creator of Tarzan and author of the Martian stories, The Mucker, At the Earth's Core, etc., has long been one of the show places of Southern California. Formerly the home of the late Gen. Harrison Gray Otis, founder of the Los Angeles Times, it stands upon the summit of a low hill half a mile back from Ventura boulevard, overlooking the entire valley, from Owensmouth to Burbank.

It is the beautiful rolling land at the base of this hill that it is now proposed to subdivide into one-acre residence sites, with 66 business lots fronting on Ventura boulevard.

It has long been Mr. Burroughs hope to establish an artistic and literary colony upon Tarzana, and with the subdivision of this initial acreage, it would appear that his dream is upon the verge of realization.

Come and live in Beautiful
TARZANA
The Neighborly Colony where each is
privileged to "live his own life in his
own way."
TARZANA RANCH
Suburban acres lying high above the flood-menace, on slope of Santa Monica Mountains -- a home in Los Angeles city limits with all advantages of the country. A place to live among good neighbors in a community dedicated to the principles of "live and let live." Here you will find health and happiness for your children and peaceful, quiet, contented long life for yourself.
BEST PLACE TO LIVE
Tarzana is 800 feet above sea level -- less fog, less dampness, less rheumatism, less neuritis and a longer life. I have lived here 11 years and I know. I have raised my children here and am buying a homesite on Tarzana that we may live here always.
We are interesting nice people in Tarzana. A former Director of the Metropolitan Opera of New York; a famous composer; a famous stage and screen actor; an internationally known author -- people you'll like for neighbors have already purchased.
AN ACRE -- HOW MUCH LAND?
It is a lot of land - more than most people realize, 43,560 square feet. About 273 feet one way by 160 ft. the other -- an ideal size for suburban residence. A small sum of money will do wonders in beautifying an acre - and it's just about the right size to do most of the work yourself, if you feel so inclined. You'll love to express your ambitions on an acre at Tarzana.
A SPLENDID INVESTMENT
Values along Ventura Blvd., from Los Angeles to Calabasas are increasing tremendously day by day -- but there is only one Tarzana. On the main highway to Santa Barbara and San Francisco were thousands of cars pass daily  -- on the south side where the choicest property lies -- sub-divisions building up all around you. Your dollars should double and treble here in a short time.
RESIDENTIAL ACRES and BUSINESS LOTS
One-acre residential lots adjoining the home of Edgar Rice Burroughs, the author may be had as low as $2000. Business lots fronting on Ventura Blvd., 100 ft. deep to a 20-ft. alley. All but a few are selling now at $500. Prices guaranteed but one week. Terms to meet your convenience -- for Mr. Burroughs wants good friends and neighbors more than a lot of money.
HOW TO REACH TARZANA
Drive through Hollywood and out Highland Ave., over Cahuenga Pass. Keep to left-hand road -- Ventura Blvd. -- and about 15 minutes beyond Hollywood Country Club you will find Tarzana Ranch.
