Volume 7563

Number 3 ~ October 1952
The real feature of this issue is part 2 of Darrell C. Richardson’s “Little Known Works of a Well-Known Author.”  A reprinted article from a Los Angeles newspaper provides some humorous insight on Lex Barker’s difficulties with Sol Lesser and how Barker finally escaped the Tarzan role.  The balance of the editorial section contains a brief article on  “The Story of Tarzan,” some book reviews and letters to the editor (along with a repeat of his “News of the Month” column from issue #1 for some reason).  The advertiser section feature’s Joe Miller’s extensive want list, as well as a long list of his books for sale.  Can you imagine buying A. L. Burt, G&D and ERB Inc dust jackets for 30¢ each?  Those were the days!

The new cover to this reprint is by Harry Habblitz, an art teacher at The School of Practical Art who contributed artwork and sketches to nearly all the Burroughs fanzines of the ‘60s.  The back cover is by artist Robert Sankner, with whom I am now friends on Facebook.  Who would have thunk that possible 50+ years ago?
