9. AFTERWARD: Journey Home
Sunday in Louisville

After the traditional Dum-Dum farewell breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn,
Bill and I went to The Church of Christian Science
to hear George McWhorter sing at the Sunday service.
George has been a faithful member of this church for +40 years.
This is a most impressive building with seating for many hundreds.

The service is led by two readers.
George leads the congregation in the hymns, and performs a solo,
accompanied by the church's huge pipe organ.
George does not need any amplification.
He's a professinal singer and his voice is strong. He sings with love of music.

George shows great pride in his church.

   .
We were so pleased to have seen this musical side of George.
The service was over, and we were ready for lunch.

George's choice was his usual Denny's by the University of Louisville.
We came here when we visited him in 2012.
He had his regular dish of ice-cream for dessert ;-)

After lunch, we took George back to his apartment.
We hated to leave,
but my injured foot was needing medical attention at the hospital.

Do you think this is a bit of overkill?
A quick "flight" and we arrived at...

...the ER at University of Louisville Hospital.
We actually drove over,
but the medi-chopper just happened to have delivered another patient ;-)

It was a relatively quiet day in ER.

Various forms were filled out; contact was made with our travel insurance people,
and I was taken in for X-rays

Four hours later, various consultationss with the orthopedic surgeon,
and copies of the x-rays printed for our daughter, who is a doctor of radiology,
I was fitted with this latest in footwear!
Three of my toes on the left foot were broken, and
THIS is what they gave me!
Overkill, you say?

They also gave me valium...why? I don't know.
Hey also gave me a strong pain-killer...why? I don't know.
They also gave me a pill to prevent upset stomach from the other two pills
...I threw up 30 minutes later!
We stayed in Louisville for the night, with plans to head for Cleveland the next morning.
The total cost for my visit to the ER was over $1500.00!
Thank goodness for travel insurance. . .
we're all the more appreciative of the Canadian medical system.

During our journey home to Canada we stopped at the Rock 'n' Roll Museum
and The Christmas Story Museums in Cleveland.
Then on to Niagara Falls to visit our jam buddy in his new home,
to Toronto to visit my sister, and onward through
Chicago, Minneapolis, Fargo and Grand Forks and home.
But these photo epics and our previous visit to
the Everly Brothers Museum in Kentucky
are told elsewhere in our other Website:
