2. EARLY BIRD BBs ENTER

THE CARDINAL HALL OF FAME

After our long journey south on I-29 to Kansas City and across to Central City,
we finally arrived in Louisville, at the Hilton Garden Inn where the convention was held.
There were many warm greetings, hugs, handshakes, with friends we've made in the past gatherings.
It's always like a family reunion whenever we get together.
It was supper time, and some of us gathered at
the Cardinal Hall of Fame Cafe next door for supper and cool ones.
Some of the gang:
Cole Richardson, Brian Bohnett, Becky and Bob Hibbard, Brad and Pat Vinson.

Michael Hatt, Cathy Richardson, John Thompson kept me company.

Bob of Becknbob Hibbard is our leather craftsman
who has designed and made many ERB related articles
for the BB auctions, name badges, etc.
In the spring, I asked him secretly to make a guitar strap for Bill.
Here Bill is getting his surprise!

Needless to say, Bill was thrilled with Bob's work.
It was a beautiful strap, with his name and ERB symbols.
How come Bob got the hug instead of me?!

Once we got settled, more of the Burroughs fans joined us:
Our guest of honour Dr. Phil Currie and Eva,
and several members of the Chicago BB chapter called the Muckers:
Joan Bledig, Kenneth Manson, Greg Phillips.

Long time ERB fan and collector Mike Conran and Fred Mallon also joined us upon arrival.

Bill Ross, our auctioneer for the BB auctions catching up with the folks.

Panthans Huck James G Huckenpöhler and Lee Strong
arrived and pulled up a couple more chairs.

Jim Hadac is another member of the Chicago Muckers,
here sitting with Michael Hatt, ERB fan, collector, and author.

Frank Grainger finally arrived from Texas after driving for +12 hours.
He should have been tired, but I think he was pretty hyped up for having arrived alive;-)
He is excited to be back in Kentucky where relatives have settled all around the state.
In fact, his parents were both Bluegrass musicians.

I think Brian Bohnett was razzing Frank off to the side - something about Prince Valiant.
Becky and Bob are still getting a kick out of Bill's look of astonishment from the guitar strap ;-)

Lee Strong brought along another writer friend, and her name is also LEE!
After supper, we all went back to the hotel lobby
where visiting and enjoying a couple more cool ones continued.
