8. FORT GRANT I
The Road To Fort Grant

After travelling across many miles of rather barren desert land
it was a real treat to drive by so many oases of agriculture.
Arizona Agriculture is the result of ample sunshine, high-quality soils, and adequate river and ground water.
On our drive to the old Fort Grant site we passed many hundreds of acres of
grape and apple orchards and hydroponic greenhouses.
The main greenhouse crops grown were tomatoes, cucumbers and cannabis.
Irrigated crops included vineyards, sorghum, corn, barley,cotton, sugar beets, lettuce, grasses and alfalfa.
Much of the corn and grain is used by dairy farms.
